SIP MELA: A Celebration of

Sustainability and Societal Impact

FIIB’s SIP Mela was not merely an exhibition but

a lively celebration of the dedication shown by

240 students in fostering meaningful societal

impacts through their projects. Students

eagerly shared their impactful experiences and

insights from their social internships with 25

esteemed Social Sector Organizations (SSOs)

throughout the event. They effectively utilized

their business acumen and problem-solving

skills to address real-world challenges, from

conducting research projects to spearheading

consulting initiatives and launching fundraising

campaigns.

These endeavors encompassed a broad

spectrum of societal issues, ranging from

addressing social and economic inequalities

for the LGBTQ+ communities in India to

co-authoring guidebooks for parents

of children with intellectual disabilities to

developing educational support programs for

economically disadvantaged students, among

others. Inspired by the Sanskrit meaning of

a mela, signifying a 'gathering' or 'to meet,'

the SIP Mela embodied FIIB's commitment for

collective action for a greater purpose.

This initiative underscores the institution's

dedication towards instilling a lifelong service-

learning mindset in its students, empowering

them to confront global challenges confidently.

Aligned with United Nations’ Sustainable

Development Goals (SDGs) like Quality

Education (SDG4), Gender Equality (SDG5),

Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG8),

and Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure

(SDG9); the student's project work highlights

FIIB's commitment to nurturing leaders

poised to create a sustainable and equitable

society. Moreover, students extended their

appreciation to the SSO partners, who served

as employers, mentors and guides, amplifying

their talents and recognizing them as heroes

for their invaluable contributions.
