Enhancing
Sustainability
The construction industry has a
significant environmental footprint,
contributing to energy consumption,
greenhouse gas emissions, waste
generation, and depletion of natural
resources. Embracing sustainability
practices in construction can help
minimize these impacts, reduce carbon
emissions, conserve resources, and
protect ecosystems, thereby mitigating
climate change and preserving the
environment for future generations.
Sustainable construction focuses on
creating healthier indoor environments
by prioritizing factors such as air
quality, natural lighting, thermal
comfort, and acoustic performance.
By adopting sustainable building
practices, the industry can enhance the
health and well-being of occupants,
leading to improved productivity,
reduced sick leave, and an overall
higher quality of life.
The Indian government has introduced
initiatives and regulations promoting
sustainability in the construction
sector, such as the Leadership in
Energy and Environmental Design
(LEED) certification, etc.
Overall, integrating sustainability into
the Indian construction industry is
essential for mitigating environmental
impacts, addressing resource scarcity,
conserving energy, improving occupant
well-being, complying with regulations,
and meeting market demands. It
presents an opportunity for the industry
to create a more resilient, efficient,
and environmentally responsible built
environment for a sustainable future.
Here is one of the cases
how Hilti imbibed the
aspect of sustainability.
Name of the project: Pune Airport-New
Terminal Building
This system installation does not involve welding,
resulting in a shorter installation time compared
to conventional methods. Additionally, the system is
tested according to seismic guidelines. I wish the best
for Hilti in this field and look forward to collaborating on
building improved infrastructure together.

Problem faced by the customer:
The customer was looking for code compliant Design of Seismic
overhead supports with third party seismic approvals.
Hilti’s expert solution that aided sustainabilty:
Our team provided the customer with cost-optimized Designed Seismic
Overhead Designs, offering valuable support to their project. By
transforming the traditional welded overhead support system into a fully
modular design, we helped the customer achieve significant benefits.
This included reducing the overall support weight, eliminating the need
for hot working, and ultimately contributing to the reduction of carbon
emissions. These efforts align with our company’s commitment to
environmental sustainability and promoting a greener environment.
