As 2024 draws to a close, it is a time for reflection and celebration. This year has brought us immense

success, even though a few plans needed adjustments along the way.

Lazie Indie Magazine has proudly completed another remarkable year, showcasing phenomenal

artists from around the globe. With our 56th issue, including numerous special editions, we’ve

created thousands of pages of original, inspiring content. Our dedicated columnists have remained

steadfast, never missing a single submission—a testament to their passion and commitment.

The highlight of the year was winning the prestigious Josie Music Award, a recognition of our

efforts in championing indie music. Additionally, the International Indie Music Festival (IIMF) and

the John Anthony Guitar Contest were conducted with even greater energy and enthusiasm. Both

events exceeded expectations, delivering meaningful opportunities for indie musicians worldwide.

Lazie Indie has truly become a trusted partner for organizing global musical events, and we take

pride in doing so with style, inspiring others to follow suit. Our message remains simple: If we can

achieve this, so can anyone with genuine passion and perseverance. Success lies in working hard and

refusing to quit, even when the journey feels challenging.

A year of achievemts and some hiccups

Editor’s

Note

For this year’s final edition, we are thrilled to feature Wild

Wild Women on the cover. This all-women hip-hop group

from India, who first participated in the IIMF’s third

edition, is a force to watch. Alongside them, this issue

highlights an incredible lineup of artists, including a few

Christmas releases that we couldn’t include in our earlier

Christmas special.

As always, I encourage everyone to look beyond their

immediate interests and lend support to fellow musicians.

A small gesture of encouragement costs nothing but can

mean the world to an artist striving to make their mark.

Thank you for being part of this incredible journey.

See you all next year!

Wishing you a very Happy New Year!

Wild Wild Women

India’s Trailblazing All-Girls Band

In the bustling heart of Mumbai, a band is making waves with their fearless approach to music and

their bold message of empowerment. Wild Wild Women, India’s trailblazing all-girls ensemble, has

captured the imagination of music lovers nationwide. Their name stands for individuality, freedom,

and unapologetic expression. But their story is even more powerful - a tale of grit, passion, and

breaking barriers in the music world.

Formed in 2017, Wild Wild Women emerged as a dynamic force that sought to bridge the gap

between genres, cultures, and gender stereotypes in the Indian music industry. From electrifying

live performances to socially conscious lyrics, the band is not just a musical act - they are a

movement. Their sound, a captivating blend of jazz, blues, funk, and soul, is enriched by each

member’s unique artistic influence. Together, they create a sonic palette that is as diverse and

vibrant as the city they hail from.

At the helm of this vibrant ensemble is a group of multi-talented musicians who are

unapologetically bold and fiercely talented. Vocalist Sangeeta Melekar’s soulful delivery, combined

with the intricate instrumental interplay of her bandmates, makes for an unforgettable auditory

experience. With their music, they craft stories that resonate deeply, whether exploring themes of

empowerment, love, heartbreak, or societal issues. Their songs are anthems for individuality,

inspiring listeners to embrace their true selves.

For Wild Wild Women, the journey has been as thrilling as it has been challenging. In a male-

dominated industry, they’ve had to carve out their niche with unrelenting determination. Their rise

to prominence is a testament to their resilience and their ability to connect with audiences who see

themselves in the band’s unapologetic authenticity. They have shattered preconceived notions

about women’s roles in music, proving that talent, passion and vision know no gender.

This year, Wild Wild Women took their dynamic performances to the International Indie Music

Festival (IIMF) in Kovalam, earning accolades for their energy, charisma, and the sheer artistry of

their set. Sharing the stage with global indie talents, they left an indelible mark, showcasing their

ability to transcend cultural and geographical boundaries. Their performance at IIMF Kovalam

wasn’t just a milestone in their career - it was a celebration of Indian indie music on an international

platform, reaffirming their place as pioneers in the scene.

To delve deeper into their inspiring journey, Jay Pillai, the founding editor of *Lazie Indie Magazine*,

sat down with the band for an exclusive interview. In this insightful conversation, Wild Wild

Women shared their thoughts on breaking barriers in the music industry, the creative process

behind their genre-defying sound, and their aspirations for the future. Their candid reflections

offered a glimpse into the determination, camaraderie and vision that drive their success.

As they continue to push creative boundaries and champion representation in music, Wild Wild

Women are a force to be reckoned with, setting the stage for a more inclusive future in the arts.

Jay from Lazie Indie Magazine speaks to Wild Wild Women

LIM 08

Jay: How did the members of Wild Wild Women come together to form the band? What inspired the

name of the band?

WWW: Co-Founders KrantiNaari & HashtagPreeti came together one evening in 2020 for a small hip

hop cypher that happens in a Public park in Andheri every Sunday , the lack of women listeners and

engagement developed the idea of having an all female hip hop cypher to be held in the following

Sunday that brought in a hand full women who came in jammed and performed , the name of the

event was Wild Wild Cypher & that formed a crew in the next 3 months with a video that left the

audience in awe.

Jay: How has the vibrant music scene in Mumbai shaped your music and your identity as a band?

WWW: This country was always in a need of an all female Hip Hop collective says HashtagPreeti, the

fast city life has brought up all women to face daily challenges and unequal rights very boldly

Mumbai girls are fierce and straight. The street culture is rising as well as hip hop, Mumbai is in our

lyrics and in the way of our living and talking, we breathe the city.

Jay: Can you share the story of your journey as a band from your initial performances to where you

are today?

WWW: Wild Wild Women was formed without expectations , but made with a pure intent and

commitment to change the way society sees women in music / just women in general. Nobody of us

had a clue of where it is going to take us, we consistently Poured in our hard work and dedicatedly

made music only for the soul purpose of “We love doing it” and that has taken us places, it’s 4 years of

WWW & we have performed in the top most successful music festivals of the country, and we keep

dreaming higher and continue doing our best - one beat at a time.

LIM 09

Jay: How would you describe your

musical style, and who have been your

major influences as a band?

WWW: We all come together with very,

very different personalities and styles

from varied musical backgrounds, that’s

what brings in a scale of so many styles

the audience can choose from.

Jay: How did it feel to perform at the

International Indie Music Festival in

Kovalam? What was the energy like from

the audience and the overall vibe of the

event?

WWW: IIMF has definitely been one of

our top favourite performances, the

energy and atmosphere at the festival has

been insane, we realized how a foreign

state can make us feel so loved and known

even though we visited Trivandrum for

the first time. We love the community

and the support we have received from

KACV & LAZIE INDIE.

Jay: Were there any memorable

interactions or standout moments with

other artists or fans during the festival

that left a lasting impression on you?

WWW: The noise we heard from the

audience when we were being introduced

to get on stage was so loud and intense we

knew it’s going to be a great show, each

moment on stage will be remembered.

Jay: Can you take us through your

creative process when composing new

music?
