4th December, 2024 and also bringing out its annual report

`Smuggling in India Report, 2023-24’.

Over the years, the DRI has established itself as a premier

law enforcement agency, renowned for its professionalism,

competence and efciency in anti-smuggling and commercial

fraud. I am conﬁdent that the DRI will continue to protect India’s

economic interests with unwavering dedication and outstanding

eforts.

I extend my warm greetings and felicitations to all ofcers

and staf of DRI on this occasion and wish them success in their

future endeavours.

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Directorate of Revenue

Intelligence (DRI) on the occasion of its 67th Founding Day on 4th

December, 2024.

For over six decades, DRI has served as an apex intelligence and

investigative agency under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes

and Customs (CBIC), safeguarding India’s economic interests at

home and abroad. It has played a pivotal role in curbing smuggling

activities, protecting against revenue leakage, and securing the

ﬁscal health of the nation. DRI has demonstrated the remarkable

ability to adapt to new challenges brought about by changes in the

economic landscape and has functioned not only with efciency, but

with high standards of integrity and professionalism.

I commend all ofcers and staf of DRI for their dedication and

unwavering spirit of service. I wish the agency continued success in

all its future endeavours.

2023-2024 SMUGGLING IN INDIA REPORT

On the occasion of 67th DRI Foundation Day, I congratulate the

Directorate of Revenue Intelligence.

In recent years, the DRI has made remarkable progress in tackling major

cases of customs duty evasion and commercial fraud, thereby strengthening

the country’s economic security. Beyond safeguarding national revenue, the

DRI has been instrumental in reinforcing India’s eforts against smuggling of

Narcotics, Gold, Wildlife and other serious threats. The trafcking of contrabands

poses grave threat to both the country’s national security and also to socio-

economic fabric of the country.

DRI has garnered a distinguished reputation globally, consistently

showcasing its professionalism and efciency, in partnering with international

Customs authorities and law enforcement agencies. Successful conduct of

the Global Conference on Cooperation in Enforcement Matters in the year

2023 is a testament to its recognition.

I extend my best wishes to all DRI Ofcers on the occasion of 67th

Foundation Day of DRI and wish them continued success in their mission. I

am conﬁdent that DRI will continue to excel in the enforcement work, further

solidifying their prominent standing both within the country and on the world

stage.
