Dear Readers,

Greetings from SecurityLinkIndia!

There is a crusade going on to fostering a National Security Culture in India. The cause has primarily

been prompted by Indian Private Security Agencies majorly led by Central Association of Private

Security Industry (CAPSI). We, the team SecurityLinkIndia, are playing a crucial role in the campaign as

a part of the industry, and contributing our bit by having offered our platforms in order to proliferate

awareness and invoke cognizance about the theme amongst the stakeholders. This is the third month

in a row that we are publishing an article on the subject. This month the article titled – ‘Institutionalizing

National Security Culture in India: A Mission to Leverage the Strength of Diversity of India’– that has been

penned down by Anil Puri, CMD APS Group.

Today, despite we are surrounded and recurrently confronted by numerous dreadful threats – be

it physical or as lately and technological as cyber – the matter of security and safety is the last entity

in our mind to ponder. We, the citizen of India, generally keep the object of security at the last priority

and any expense in security is perceived as a cost. And there we make the mistake!

Security is rather an investment especially in the current era. Effective security measures do reduce

the risk of breaches, data loss, and other incidents that can lead us to significant physical, financial and

reputational damage. Preventing incidents can save an organization from potentially crippling costs

related to fines, legal actions, and recovery efforts. Thus investing in security can lead to long-term

savings by preventing and securing costly incidents. Additionally, strong security measures enhance

customer trust and confidence, which can lead to increased loyalty and business opportunities. This

is a fact that security investments can improve operational efÏciency by ensuring that systems and

data are protected and available. Therefore, streamlined security processes can lead to better overall

management and productivity.

Institutionalizing a national security culture involves embedding security practices, values, and

mindsets into the structures and operations of a country’s institutions including government agencies,

military, law enforcement, and even civilian sectors. This demands various requisites including

developing and regularly updating a comprehensive national security policy that addresses both

traditional and non-traditional threats. Enacting laws and regulations that support security measures,

data protection, cybersecurity, and counter-terrorism is another crucial factor in the line. There is

an urgent need to integrate national security topics into educational curricula at various levels, from

schools to universities; and as well, trainings for security professionals, including military, police, and

intelligence personnel. And there are many more.

This is wise and mandatory on all stakeholders to aspire and exert for a National Security Culture in

India that will keep and preserve the country and countrymen safe and secure. We at SecurityLinkIndia

are doing our bit, do you?

Till we meet next month, stay safe & happy reading!

With warm regards,

Santosh Pathak
