Care and Maintenance Guide

DOOR FURNITURE

Non Stainless Steel Hardware eg letterplates, knockers, hinges etc should

be cleaned on a monthly basis using a soft sponge and warm soapy

water.

Stainless Steel* Hardware should be cleaned on a monthly basis with a

general household stainless steel cleaning product.

Do not use any substances containing harsh chemicals or solvents on

any hardware and do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads as these

can all damage the finish of the outer frame, door and door furniture.

*Check with your Installer regarding which parts of the door furniture are

stainless steel. Refer to British Stainless Steel Association for further info.

MOVEABLE DOOR PARTS

Any moveable parts should be lubricated at least once every 12

months, however we recommend that this is done twice a year.

This applies to:

Lock Mechanism

Hinges

Handles

Knockers

Letterplates

Use 3 in 1 Oil or silicon spray on all moveable parts listed above. (Do not

use on cylinders – see below.)

Examples:

For handles, spray the lubricant at the point where the handle meets the

backplate; for lock mechanisms, spray the lubricant into the gaps where

there are hooks/latches located. To finish, lift the handle up and down

half a dozen times to ensure that the lubricant reaches all areas of the

mechanism. This can also be done by turning the key/thumbturn if no

Lever type handle

is present.

CYLINDERS

Cylinders should be lubricated using strictly only Graphite Powder at

least once every 6 months.

Do not use any Oils or WD40 as this can cause the cylinder to seize up.
