BASE jumper. She became the first woman to complete a ski BASE jump, a sport that combines

making her the first professional female Red Bull BASE jumper and free skier.
A Life-Altering Accident and Recovery
In 2006, a near-fatal parachute failure resulted in severe injuries. Despite being told she might
never walk again, Karina remarkably recovered. Her story is documented in the award-winning
film "20 Seconds of Joy," directed by Jens Hoffmann. This documentary has won numerous
awards, including the People's Choice Award at the Banff Mountain Film Festival. It is available

Base jumper Karina Hollekim jumped out of the landmark KL Tower on 02 October 2005 during the 2005 Kuala Lumpur
International Tower Jump event. Fifty base jumpers from the United States, Australia, Germany, England, New Zealand, Russia,
Switzerland, India, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia participated in this weekend's event, which was a fundraising event for
the Malaysian Down Syndrome Association.
