America First

Imagine a President that says”

I’m going to put America first”,

and people fighting it!

He says, “I’m going to put tariffs

on countries” and we hear

politicians say “Tariffs don’t

work! Yet tariffs are imposed on

the U.S. by more than 150

countries! Some are minimal

and non-consequential, but

some are major. The Left goes

in an uproar and before it gets

traction, countries are coming

to the White House to ‘WORK”

it out. In May the U.S. Customs

and Border Protection

identified $26.6 BILLION to be

collected by the US. I guess

tariffs work. (If these numbers

keep up that’s a minimum of a

quarter of a trillion dollars or

more, just on tariffs!

Then we look at immigration

and Trump ran on “I’ll close the

border and send Illegals home.”

He won on that and here we sit

watching the Left fight it! Why?

They say it couldn’t be done,

and it has been done! In May

we had ZERO border

crossings! Why does the Left

fight this issue? You have

politicians at all levels Aiding

fugitives to escape! American

First, should resonate amongst

ALL Americans, but the liberal

politicians and media keep

pushing “They have rights!” No,

they came here Illegally and

violated OUR Laws! 97% of

Americans support getting rid of

the violent illegals! Only 32%

support getting rid of ALL

Illegals! America cannot

sustain paying for illegals!

Depending on who you believe,

the House Committee on

Homeland Security estimated it

cost $500 Billion a year. While

the Foundation for Immigration

Reform estimated the yearly

cost at $150.7 Billion!

Remember this is Taxpayer

Monies! We, the American

people are footing this bill!

Currently with the US deficit at

$36.2 Trillion each taxpayer

owes $200,000! I want a say

where my taxpayer money

goes, and it sure isn’t for

illegals here ILLEGALY! I want

it to go to our military, police,

emergency responders and our

homeless veterans.

Then we hear “No men in

women’s sports!”, and the Left

fights it! The American People

support “No men in women’s

sports” at 72%! As a father and

grandfather, I don’t want men in

female sports for their sake!

Look how long it took to get

women to be recognized in their

own sports! Title IX passed in

1972 and gave them the rights.

Yet here we are with Democrat

states and Democrat politicians

fighting a federal law! It simply

boggles my mind how anyone

can be against these issues.

America is the most divided

country currently, and it’s

because the Left hates one

man that is running America like

a business! He can’t be bought

and is fighting for the American

people! Imagine if you will if

Democrats would Stop fighting

the issues the American people

support and voted for in 2024!

They work with the Republicans

to remove Illegals from the

country, no men in Women’s

Sports and putting Americans

first!

It amazes me when someone

says, “I’m a Democrat”, HOW?

They lied to you for four years

about Biden, they put Kamala in

place without running a primary

(Talk about NO KINGS, perfect

example), about COVID, and

about who was running the

country! Then I hear ‘Well I’m a

moderate democrat.” I’m sorry

the party was taken over by

extremist Socialist ideology.

There is no moderate Democrat

anymore. They are the ones

pushing the FAR-LEFT

AGENDA and anyone else in

the party that doesn’t agree

with them is kicked out, shut

down or they commit suicide

with 3 shots to the back of the

head! Bernie Sanders a

KNOWN Socialist Democrat

and AOC are the new faces of

the party! Both of them are

pushing Socialism!

The man has pushed for

Socialism for every year (20+)

he has been in Congress while

making MILLIONS! He is

currently worth between $3-$5

million while owning three

homes! His paycheck is only

$174,000 a year. You don’t

think there’s something wrong

with that or with any other

politician in Congress that is

worth millions? I do! Time to

follow the money on ALL

politicians!

America FIRST should resound

with every American! For far too

long, We the American people

have been put on a back burner

while we send $Billions around

the world and American

taxpayers fund all of this! In

2023 we spent over $80 Billion

on foreign aid!

We should be investing in

America before we invest in

other countries. Especially

since every foreigner want to

come to America, either legally

or illegally! Imagine if you will

the US having $80 Billion to

spend on infrastructure. Maybe

our air traffic controllers

wouldn’t be using a system that

is 50 years OLD! Maybe we

would not have bridges

collapsing. Just imagine.

Trump is bringing back

manufacturing, The Left said it

couldn’t be done! Trump is

bringing back the Coal industry,

The best in the world! Trump is

bringing back Tech companies

and Investors into America,

while the Left said it could be

done! Remember when Obama

said, “What magic wand does

he have to bring manufacturing

back to America? (in 2016)”

Well Barry he had business

savvy, something you were

lacking and the world got to see

it on full display! Countries are

pledged to invest more in the

US. In 2023 four countries

alone invested $5.4 trillion into

the US.

Instead of Fighting Trump every

step of the way, work with him

and the Republican party.

Unfortunately for American

Citizens, the LEFT wants

Trump to fail and they will put

the country last in the hope he

fails! Remember this when you

go to the polls this year and

next year during elections. If

you want America to look like

Los Angeles, or Chicago go

ahead and vote Democrat!

While you’re doing that look at

your children and grandchildren

and tell them why you are

saddling them with Socialism.

America First should be what

every politician should be

fighting for! Unfortunately,

Democrats are fighting for

Illegals and n ot

Americans!

How many more of our children

must die due to illegal drugs or

rape and murder at the hands

of Illegals? I’m sorry to say but

unless it happens to a

prominent liberal politician, they

will keep fighting Americans

and supporting Illegals and the

demise of the “American Way of

life.”

Alzheimer’s: One person’s

perspective that might help

you one day

I wanted to take a little bit of

your time to talk about

something that respects no

political party lines, doesn’t care

about your religion of choice or

how much money you have in

the bank, and it takes no

prisoners. Many of us have a

loved one or close friend

suffering from Alzheimer’s or

dementia today or might in the

future. It’s been almost two

years since my older brother

(by eighteen months) died

because of this disease and I

find I can now write about it in

the hopes it might help you or

someone you know in the early

stages of Alzheimer’s or

suffering from it full on. I am

hopeful that some of these

anecdotes and incidents might

assist you in identifying when

someone close to you might be

exhibiting symptoms of

Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Many of the articles I’ve had the

privilege of sending to Matt

Sadler for publication in this

eMagazine have been fun to

write and, surprisingly, I found it

cathartic at times – this is one

of those times and I thank Matt

for the opportunity to write.

Even if it never makes it to

publication, I find some

measure of peace in putting

these words to paper.

While on active-duty in the

Army, and as part of my

continuing education on being a

better leader, I was exposed to

Morris Massey’s “you are what

you were way back when” – his

theory that people’s core values

are formed during their early

years. I say this to say that my

brother and I had core values

and a way of looking at the

world that were formed when

we were younger and were very

similar, if not the same. We

had a shared upbringing and

shared experiences that formed

who we became because of

what we were way back when.

We laughed and enjoyed many

of the same things. It was

heartbreaking to see how this

disease changed him into a

shell of his former self. My only

regret for my 24-years of active-

duty service is that I served 18

of those 24 years overseas, so I

was separated from my mother,

father, and brother, and could

not easily visit with them than if

I had stayed in the area – or

even in the United States.

There were signs my brother

was suffering from Alzheimer’s

that I just plain missed. My wife

saw them and thinks it may

have just been avoidance on

my part…who wants to say out

loud that a loved one has

Alzheimer’s. When I retired

from the Army and relocated to

California, I saw my brother

most frequently when we

shared a meal. I would drive

out to see him and many times

we’d go to his favorite breakfast

place. The last time we went

there, the gentlemen who

seated us asked for our drink

order. My brother, Larry,

ordered iced tea and I ordered

Diet Coke…and yes, my

parents named us Larry and

Jerry. After a few minutes, the

waitress came to take our

order, saw we had no drinks,

and asked us what we would

like to drink. I said a Diet Coke

and my brother said a cup of

coffee. After she left, I joked

that, “You know you ordered

iced tea before?” He smiled

and responded that he knew

that but he often orders both. I

chuckled but didn’t think

anything of it. My later

research into the disease

revealed that people suffering

from Alzheimer's are very clever

in covering any deficiency…

they talk a good game to hide

what is really going on. There

were more than a few other

similar instances that I just

didn’t fully appreciate. I fully

retired and moved to Nevada in

2019. During the times I spoke

to my brother on the telephone

or had a meal with him when

we went to California or he

visited Las Vegas, he painted a

rosy picture of how things were

going and we joked about

movies or TV shows from the

past. I could see, though, that

neither he nor his wife were

getting any medical care and I

asked about it but he just joked

it off. Cut to January of 2022. I

called his cell phone and

landline telephone and heard

recordings you typically hear

when a line has been

disconnected. My wife and I

drove to California to see what

was going on. Long story short,

we discovered that many of

their bills, cellphones, landline,

and cable TV included, were

unpaid for many months.

Incoming mail was in large

stacks throughout their living

area and I found more than a

few bills with payment checks

attached but unmailed. We

caught them up on their bills

and I established a simple

system of two baskets –

incoming and unpaid bills as

they came in one basket that

were moved to the other after

being paid. I also was able to

turn his cell phone on remotely

and put the bill on my credit

card; thinking I could always get

ahold of him but not realizing he

had a disease that would cause

him to simply forget to plug it in.

It's now August of 2022, a short

eight months since my last visit.

I received a call from a

neighbor that caused me to

race again to California. In

those short eight months, the

change was startling enough to

finally get through to me. The

living conditions were

absolutely horrible, stained

carpets, pizza boxes stacked in

the kitchen and garage, every

single dish, pot, and pan was

dirty and stacked in the sink

and on every flat surface, and

shockingly, their water had

been turned off. I documented

their living conditions with

pictures on my cell phone. I

would recommend you do the

same if you’re in a similar

situation. If you need court

intervention or social worker

assistance to get them help,

this photographic evidence is

essential. I gathered the piles

of mail into large trash bags

and packed the bags and my

brother and his wife into my car

and took them to our home in

Pahrump. In another long story

cut short, we discovered that

the bills had not been paid

since our previous visit in

January and the water had

been cut off for two months

before I arrived there. It was

frightening and especially so

since they did not realize the

conditions they were living in.

Our home has the master suite

at one end of the house and

two guest bedrooms and an

office at the opposite end. The

living room and kitchen are in

between. What emphasized to

me how badly my brother’s

brain was compromised was

that every morning when I

came out of our master

bedroom into the living room,

I’d find my brother sleeping

naked on our couch.

Something he would never

have done a year before. He

was also incontinent so there

was typically urine down the

hallway from the guest

bedroom to the living room. He

was also unable to bathe

himself so I found myself

having to bathe him and my

wife usually had a fight bathing

my brother’s wife. I also

learned in my research of

Alzheimer’s that many suffering

from the disease find the water

from a shower painful – who

knew. We would talk with them

several times a day, usually

during mealtimes, about how

scared we were to have them

living by themselves in those

conditions. They denied there

were any problems and said

they were fine living by

themselves and could I take

them home. I didn’t fully

understand the best way to talk

to them, despite my research,

and I’m sure I could have

handled it better. They did not

remember our conversations

from the day before and, many

times, from that same day.

After two weeks in our home,

my wife and I were exhausted.

We couldn’t leave them alone

and full-time care of them was

challenging, at best. My hat

goes off to the thousands of

people caring for loved ones at

home. I don’t know how you do

it; you are true heroes.

After two weeks and multiple

daily conversations, I told my

brother and his wife that I would

take them home the next day. I

had arranged to have a social

worker meet us the morning

after I took them home. I

planned it so that we would

arrive after I fed them dinner

since they had no water. When

we arrived at their house and

my brother realized they had no

water, he said to his wife that

they can’t live like this; but the

next morning, when I came to

take him to breakfast (his wife

never left the house), they both

said they were fine living there.

The social worker was great

but, ultimately, he called

another agency since his

powers were limited. They

came out and they were

excellent. As a side note, when

my brother was asked by them

what year it was, he answered

it was 1999 and neither knew

the water was turned off. My

brother and his wife were taken

to the hospital that same day

and the journey for both them

and us began.

My best advice to you is not to

ignore the early signs of

Alzheimer’s or dementia. There

is medication now available that

could lessen the symptoms

and/or delay full on-set. My

other piece of advice is to get

court assistance, if needed. I

was my brother and his wife’s

court-appointed Conservator (to

which they agreed) so I could

make all decisions concerning

their persons and property. I

would also caution those who

decide to become the

Conservator over a loved one

that you will question and

second-guess every medical

decision you will have to make

on their behalf. I probably

spent more than a thousand

hours on Conservator-related

tasks. There was a lot to do

from establishing

Conservatorship bank accounts

to becoming their

representative with Social

Security, to hundreds of small

and large things we take for

granted in our everyday life.

We ended up having to get

them into a memory care

facility, which is different than

assisted living, as memory care

facilities are locked and

secured while assisted living

facilities allow you the freedom

to go in and out. Their mental

state required them to be in a

secure facility. This is an

expensive, expensive

proposition no matter how you

look at it – from getting the

Conservatorship to finding a

good memory care facility.

I would add here that my wife

and I were happy that my

brother and his wife never

forgot who we were (this is not

always the case with

Alzheimer’s). They were

genuinely happy to see us each

and every time we visited them.

I talked to my brother about old

times, things we did as kids,

movies and TV shows we liked,

and a lot of other things he

probably didn’t really remember

but seemed to enjoy talking

about them with me. Before

they moved into the memory

care facility, we bought higher

end beds so they would be

more comfortable and

decorated their room with

pictures from when they were

children on through the years.

My research indicated they

would find comfort in this and I

hope he did.

As a final note, my brother

passed away in September of

2023. He had heart surgery

that he passed with flying colors

but, while in rehab, he simply

quit eating. I brought him his

favorite food and stayed with

him but he simply would not

eat. I learned that this is not

uncommon for those with

Alzheimer’s. I miss him every

day. I’m not ashamed to say I

cried writing this article and

remembering him in better

times.

m

Illegal Immigrants in The

People’s Republic of

California

I said to myself, “Self, you

already wrote about your

feelings on immigration in Issue

3, do you need to do it again?”

From my perspective, the two

sides of the coin are simply, I’m

for legal immigration and

welcome you to this great

country when done right — I’m

against illegal immigration,

you’ve broken the law. I kept

telling myself that there wasn’t

much to add on the subject

from my point of view but Mr.

Lindemann’s sage words in the

last issue inspired me and,

alas, I keep tuning into the

news and reading on-line news

feeds and it gets my blood

boiling all over again. (Sorry,

how often can you use the word

“alas,” I just had to...) Let me

take a few minutes of your time

and vent.

I won’t address the riots

occurring in Los Angeles and

reported in the news every

single day; Mr. Lindemann

covered that very well in the

last issue. I would only add

some additional context of what

is currently going on in The

People’s Republic of California.

Gavin Newsom responds to

ICE’s deportation efforts by

excusing these law-breaking

illegal immigrants and saying

they just want to live their lives

and they’ve been here for ten

years. So, you’re telling me

that in ten years, they couldn’t

take care of their immigration

status and do it right? Aside

from my grandparents lawfully

immigrating two generations

ago, my wife legally immigrated

and became a proud American

citizen six years after getting

her first Green Card. It can be

done. Newsom says these

illegal immigrants want “to live

their lives” but obviously doesn’t

give a rat’s a$$ about the

millions of legal California

citizens struggling to make

ends meet just “to live their

lives” while illegal immigrants

are handed free benefit after

benefit after benefit.

LA Mayor Karen Bass tweeted

that, “There are entire sectors

of the economy in Los Angeles

that depend on immigrant labor”

and Newsom stated that the

California economy would be

devastated if illegal immigrants

were deported. Well, whose

fault is that? Democrats from

California to New York are

blitzing the media with a PR

campaign arguing that millions

of illegal immigrants hired by

employers should be exempt

from deportation laws. They

want the Government to

endorse these illegal

immigrants and give them a

free pass literally forever. I’m

sorry, laws must be enforced

equally; it’s not a game of pick

and choose who you want to

prosecute or deport. Come on

already!

New York Governor Kathy

Hochul said she would help get

criminal illegal immigrants

deported but people who work

in restaurants and hospitality

should be exempt – I guess

until they commit a violent

crime. Trump’s immigration

czar, Stephen Miller, responded

that if “we can only deport

illegals after they violently

attack a citizen then you’re

saying we have no border at all.

Zero rules. Zero restrictions.

No limits. Anyone can come.

Anyone can overstay a visa.

Anyone can stay forever…This

open border view also means

instead of removing unvetted

illegals before a potential rape,

assault, or murder, you have to

wait until after an innocent

American has been brutalized.”

Mayor Karen Bass also said,

“We are gonna (sic) fight for all

Angelenos regardless of when

they got here, whether they

have papers or not; we are a

city of immigrants and this

impacts hundreds of thousands

of Angelenos.” Well, when are

you going to start fighting for

the millions of legal Angelenos

and Californians making hard

decisions on whether to buy

food for their family or pay the

rent because they can’t afford

to do both. When? Please tell

me, Mayor Bass.

California continues to fund free

healthcare for illegal immigrants

instead of offering it to law-

abiding Americans in California.

Newsom’s next budget includes

$12,100,000,000 (that’s billions

with a “b”) for illegal immigrant

healthcare, while countless

legal citizens cannot afford

healthcare of any kind. They

are having to roll the dice that a

medical condition won’t turn

serious (or fatal) because they

don’t have any or insufficient

healthcare to see a doctor.

How about prioritizing their

health over the health of an

illegal immigrant? The LA

Times reported that California’s

Medi-Cal costs for

undocumented immigrants this

year is about $8,500,000,000

(again, billions) while another

news outlet reports California is

spending $9,500,000,000 (hey,

a billion here, a billion there—

it’s not Newsom’s money; he’s

funding it on the backs of

hardworking legal California

citizens). Doing the complex

math in my head, it seems that

California could have saved

$20 billion dollars if they didn’t

fund illegal immigrant

healthcare this year and next.

And I know there are billions of

other dollars spent by California

on illegal immigrants that could

be saved but for the California

politicians. I may not be the

sharpest knife in the drawer but

it seems to me this money

could (and should) be better

spent on California’s legal

citizenry.

Gavin Newsom also

complained that President

Trump is spending $134 million

for federal troops in California

while California is spending $9

billion this year alone for illegal

immigrant healthcare. Again,

maybe I’m math-challenged,

but does anyone here see the

hypocrisy?

California has opened up

government programs to illegal

immigrants more than any state

in the nation. Among many

other things, they issue driver’s

licenses, provide college

scholarships, low-income tax

credits, Medi-Cal health

coverage, and during the

COVID pandemic, gave direct

cash aid. During Newsom’s

COVID lockdown, many, many

law-abiding business owners

and employees were out of

work while he doled out

$75,000,000 in taxpayer dollars

to illegal immigrants. That’s

right, the out-of-work

Californians’ tax dollars were

spent helping illegal immigrants

during the pandemic.

In 2023, California spent an

average of $13,686 per illegal

immigrant student (or $3.4

billion) to fund their schooling in

grades K-12 (and this does not

account for the massive cost of

nearly 100,000 illegal

immigrants enrolled in

California’s public colleges and

universities receiving taxpayer

paid benefits). So, if you were

a college-bound student living

in Arizona, who wished to

attend college in California, you

would be forced to pay an extra

$30,000 per year at a public

university or an extra $45,000

per year for a private university,

while an illegal immigrant

student would not. I would

have suggested you enter

California through Mexico,

declare yourself illegal, and get

in-state tuition but I guess

President Trump has ruined

that plan by essentially closing

the border (this sounds like a

very convenient college-level

protest against Trump; I can

see your protest slogans now:

“Trump is against higher

education.” “Trump stole

$120,000 from my college

education fund.” “Trump closed

the border and now I can’t be

an illegal immigrant.” Please,

just don’t burn any cars or

throw rocks at law enforcement

during your protest!).

In the end, I still think a big

motivation for fighting

deportation of illegal immigrants

in California, other sanctuary

cities and states, and other blue

states is what I detailed in Issue

5 relative to sanctuary cities. It

is directly tied to the census

and the fact that everyone is

counted by the census

regardless of immigration status

or legal residency. And the

census numbers are what is

used to allocate seats in the

U.S. House of Representatives,

the number of electoral college

votes for each state (which

determines who will or will not

be the next president), and to

distribute billions of dollars in

federal funds to states and local

municipalities. I guess if you’re

going to spend billions on illegal

immigrants, you do not want to

lose access to billions in federal

funds. I haven’t fully

researched it but I saw a

statistic that over 2 million U.S.

citizens in California live with at

least one illegal immigrant

family member (and I would

guess the number is much

higher). You don’t need a

crystal ball to predict how or for

whom they would vote for

governor or mayor – and I can

guarantee you they aren’t

voting for the person who will

support deporting their family

member(s) or cutting off their

access to healthcare and other

benefits. It’s no wonder why

Newsom and Bass do not want

these illegal immigrants

deported – they might lose an

election.

As Mr. Lindemann urges, make

your voice heard in the

upcoming election cycle and

“vote a straight Republican

ticket. That’s our protest.”

Wise words, indeed.
