The Pacific Northwest is renowned for its exhilarating mountain biking

Springfield’s outdoor spaces are its lifeblood, promoting physical health,
adventure, and a sense of community among residents and visitors alike.
Willamalane Park & Recreation District adeptly maintains over 1,500
acres of parks, including Island Park and Dorris Ranch, one of the
country’s oldest active filbert orchards, where you’ll find the region’s
agricultural roots still flourishing.
The City’s proximity to the Willamette and McKenzie Rivers provides full
access to a myriad of outdoor activities. Oregon WaterShed Paddlesports,
located downtown mere steps from the Day Island boat launch, offers
an array of boats and gear rentals as well as guided fishing and rafting
excursions through partner company River Trail Guides.
In yet another partnership with PeaceHealth, the City of Springfield
has expanded the PeaceHealth Rides bike share program, which in 2024
celebrated its sixth year with a 100-bike expansion and new bike-share hubs
in downtown Springfield. The bike share also includes the Access Plan,
which provides free memberships for individuals on assistance programs

Springfield’s prominence as a street art mecca continues. Fans of the
long-running TV show “The Simpsons” flock to the Springfield Chamber
Visitor Center from around the world to get their Simpsons Mural Walk
map and start hunting for their favorite characters.
Local muralist Bayne Gardner, who is responsible for a fair amount
of those Simpsons paintings, recently commemorated the Springfield
Chamber’s 75th anniversary by creating a “live mural” on the back wall of
the Emerald Art Center in downtown Springfield. Attendees of the 2024
Springfield BLOCK Party added their own personal messages during the
event for posterity.
The Upstream Art Project, now in its ninth year, promotes environmental
responsibility, supports local artists, and helps protect water quality by
exhibiting the connection between our streets and rivers. In September,
the City of Springfield accepted the Outstanding Agency Award from the
Oregon Association of Clean Water Agencies for the mural project.
Teaming up with the Springfield History Museum, the Springfield Public
Library hosted the Summer Reading Kickoff, a wildly popular weekly
series of multicultural events. Audiences of all ages enjoyed an inclusive
experience including aerial circus arts, Bollywood, and Brazilian Samba;
while Springfield’s annual festival of Mexican culture, Noche Cultural,
marked its ninth year in 2024.

disrupting conventional perceptions, delivering a welcoming experience, and enhancing the
quality of the place where we live.

Springfield prides itself on its diverse housing options, from historic homes
in the Washburne District to modern downtown apartments. While
certain developers are creating close communities with cottage clusters
and accessory dwelling units (ADUs), larger developments like Marcola
Meadows are adding more single-family homes. The city’s evolving housing
landscape provides residents with a variety of choices.
On Main Street, renovations on the historic Rivett Building are now
finished, including newly constructed 2nd and 3rd stories containing 12 one-
bedroom loft apartments. Businesses underneath – including a brewpub
and workspace – are ready to open. Campfire Collaborative and Ryan
Thomas Construction, LLC have partnered to combine selective reuse and
new construction that keeps costs down while retaining the character and
charm of Springfield’s downtown corridor.
Marcola Meadows continues to bring market-rate housing to Springfield,
a community just three miles from downtown that will eventually
incorporate 446 single-family homes and 312 multi-family apartment units,
along with 45 acres of mixed-use commercial property, a public school,
