Dear Readers,
Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre celebrated innovation, technology and collaboration from 24th to 26th April 2025 as Bharat Print Expo’s
maiden edition left a lasting impression. The event organised by the AIFMP, in association with ReEnvision Events, and co-organised by the
Karnataka State Printers Association (KSPA) highlighted: Ahmedabad Bopl showcasing new venture Wanjie India solutions, key being shaftless
intermittent/full rotary offset label and flexible packaging machines; KOMORI India highlights highly efficient Lithrone presses - Lithrone 40 Advance
EX Edition, Lithrone G37, and Lithrone G37P Advance: manufacturer of complete hard-case solutions for book binding & rigid box making,
Megabound sealing a dozen deals; Renuka Softtec showcasing AI-enabled automation and ERP solutions; Monotech Systems showcasing
11-colour printing capability of the RICOH Pro C7500 press; Robus demonstrating live the latest of its Excellence Series; and Konica Minolta
showcasing its ‘proven’ AccurioPrint production printing systems. The Bharat Print Expo organizers announced the next Bharat Print Expo 2026
edition venue as Chennai. The event will be held from 27th to 29th April and is aimed to be even more impactful.
The 11th Beijing International Printing Technology Exhibition (PRINT CHINA 2025) concluded with great success, achieving multiple record-breaking
milestones. The show attracted over 1,300 exhibitors from over 25 countries and regions to its sprawling exhibition area of 180,000 square meters
utilizing all the 8 pavilions of the Shunyi Pavilion and additional 3 pavilions of the Capital International Convention and Exhibition Center. Exhibitors
spoke highly of the exhibition, with nearly unanimous feedback that it exceeded expectations. We have an exclusive report, top showcase and key
technologies from key exhibitors based on one-to-one talk we had at the showfloors that should be of great interest for our readers.
Two more events that took place recently addressing the key subjects of interest for our industry were: first, the 2nd Master Class on Print that
illustrated the power of Value Addition and Smart Packaging. The Webinar enlightened the print fraternity on enhancing brand appeal and
business growth by the two powerful tools – Value Addition and Smart Packaging. Hundreds of participants joined in for the second in the series of
Masterclasses planned. The magnetic presentation on Value Additions and Smart Packaging was delivered by Mr. Amit Shah, Managing Director,
Spectrum Scans, a leading entrepreneur and one of the successful businessmen in our industry globally. And second, the ASPA MEA Open House.
The event builds on ASPA’s global engagement strategy and reinforces its commitment to regional empowerment, knowledge sharing, and the
promotion of advanced physical and digital authentication technologies.
In the Indian digital printing space, we have two key players Canon India and Monotech systems leading the show with multiple installations and
transforming the way print is being perceived these days. Canon technology is creating expansion possibilities for Indian printers, exploring the
versatile capabilities of digital printing faster than ever before. Monotech Systems has won landmark “Top Production Printer Sales Award” for
Consecutive Years with digital printers across the country equipping their production with RICOH capabilities.
We have quite a few technical pieces for you. Just don’t miss Milking Innovation: From Glass to Smart Packs, by Shailesh Sheth, Kris Flexipacks;
The Right Press for the Job, by Mike Barry, Domino Printing Sciences; Re-Board Revolution - the future of Signage, by Mandy Roscoe, Carrick

HEIDELBERG on target, def es dif cult market
environment in FY 2024/25
Rising order intake compared to previous year lays the foundation for a good start to FY 2025/26 for
HEIDELBERG.
“Our global presence in
over 170 countries around
the world is paying off,
especially in economically
uncertain times,” said
Dr. David Schmedding,
Chief Technology & Sales
Offi cer at HEIDELBERG.
Key Notes :
> Additional positive
order impetus
expected from China
Print trade fair.
> Significant increase in
incoming orders in the
EMEA region in the
fourth quarter.
> Preliminary order
intake for the year
was around 6 percent
higher than the
previous year’s figure.
HEIDELBERG held its own in a difficult market
environment in financial year 2024/25 and achieved
its set targets. According to preliminary calculations,
the adjusted EBITDA margin remained stable at 7.1
percent, bringing the financial year to a successful
close. The slightly lower sales volume compared
to the previous year, costs and expenses were
successfully offset by efficiency measures initiated. In
the fourth quarter alone, the adjusted EBITDA margin
doubled to around 10 percent compared to the
previous year.
At around € 2,280 million, sales were slightly below
the previous year’s level (€ 2,395 million).
“We were able to achieve our financial year targets
in a difficult economic environment and uncertain
geopolitical conditions,” said Jürgen Otto, CEO of
HEIDELBERG. “With a clearly positive free cash flow
for the second year in a row, we have confirmed our
financially solid development. The measures initiated
to reduce personnel costs will help us to further
strengthen our profitability in the new financial year.”
The adjusted EBITDA margin is expected to improve
further to around 8 percent in the next financial year
2025/26.
HEIDELBERG closed the past financial year with a
high order intake. At over € 600 million, incoming
orders in the fourth quarter were up on the previous
quarters of the financial year. The significant increase
in incoming orders in the EMEA region in the
fourth quarter deserves special mention, while the
Americas region showed a slight improvement at a
still subdued level. The Asia/Pacific region was below
the previous year’s level, mainly to the reluctance to
invest ahead of the China Print trade fair.
Both segments in the core business achieved an
increase in orders thanks to strong development
in the Sheetfed product area, with the Packaging
Solutions segment accounting for the higher growth.
Preliminary order intake for the year as a whole
therefore totaled around € 2.430 billion, which was
around 6 percent higher than the previous year’s
figure of € 2.288 billion. Overall, the improvement
can be seen across both segments, with Packaging
Solutions accounting for around 52 percent of
order intake for the year as a whole. Compared to
the previous year, order intake in this strategically
important segment recorded absolute growth of
around 7 percent.
“Our global presence in over 170 countries around
the world is paying off, especially in economically
uncertain times,” said Dr. David Schmedding, Chief
Technology & Sales Officer at HEIDELBERG. “Thanks
to the rising order situation, we expect a better start
to the new financial year compared to the previous
year. The China Print trade fair in May should provide
further impetus for orders.

Additional, positive order
impetus expected from China
Print trade fair in May
From May 15 to 19, China Print, the largest
trade fair in the Chinese printing industry,
will take place in Beijing this year with over
100,000 visitors. Customer groups from
overseas are also expected to attend. In
terms of sales, China is one of the top
three markets for HEIDELBERG. At the
booth, the company will showcase its latest
innovations aimed at increasing efficiency
and productivity, integrated hybrid production
with offset and digital printing, developing
new business opportunities and digital
transformation. HEIDELBERG intends to
gradually expand its business and portfolio
to offer customers integrated end-to-end
solutions for the entire production process
through automation, robotics and software.
As a system provider, the aim is to tap into
the huge potential in the growing packaging
segment. In China, the annual printing
volume in the packaging sector is growing
by around 4 percent. HEIDELBERG is thus
Hyderabad-based Sphoorthi Printers,
known for its high-quality print solutions, has
reinforced its printing products’ offering by
investing in a brand-new KOMORI Lithrone
GL429. The printing company aims to
double its production capacity to cater to the
growing demands from its commercial and
publishing clients.
Reflecting on the company’s journey, Mr
N. Narayana Rao, Managing Director of
Sphoorthi Printers, shares how he overcame
significant challenges over the past 30
years. “In the beginning, we were simply a
typesetting firm engaging in DTP jobs and
graphic designing. Our major breakthrough
came in 2012 when we invested in a pre-
owned 4-colour KOMORI Lithrone 426 and
became a commercial printer.”
Expanding rapidly, Sphoorthi Printers
installed a Screen CtP system within six
months of launching its printing services,
followed by another 4-colour pre-owned
KOMORI press within the next six months.
“We have continuously upgraded our pre-
press and printing infrastructures. Our Screen
CtP system was upgraded to TechNova’s
Elite thermal digital plate and further to the
PlateRite 8600 MII-S thermal CtP platesetter,”
Mr Rao says.
Narrating how quality and consistency are
maintained at Sphoorthi Prtinters, Mr Rao
affirms, “From graphic design to proofing
and final printing, we maintain the highest
quality standards. Our newly installed
KOMORI Lithrone GL429 is the vanguard,
which is instrumental and ticking all the
boxes of our sheet requirements.”
This latest addition is the second brand
new KOMORI press at Sphoorthi Printers,
following the Lithrone GL437, installed two
and a half years ago. “Having worked with
pre-owned models in the past, we appreciate
the speed, precision and shorter make-ready
times of the brand-new presses, significantly
boosting our productivity,” Mr Rao explains.
“With the brand new Lithrone GL429, we plan
to double its production, meeting increasing
demand from our clients in the commercial
and publishing sectors. Packed with
advanced functions in optimal form, Lithrone
GL429 operates at a maximum speed of
16,500 sph and accommodates sheet sizes
ranging from 257x364mm (minimum) to

for the publishing industry. “We are happy
with our long-standing partnerships with

Mr Rao concludes, adding, “Their continued
