Golf Impact Screen Care & Use
Thank you for purchasing a Carl’s Place
impact screen! Here are some tips to get
started.
First Things First
•
Take your impact screen out of the box as
soon as possible. The longer it stays folded in
the box, the more likely it is to have longer-lasting
creases when installed.
Hanging Your New Impact Screen
•
Make sure you are using the correct side! Your
new impact screen has a front and a back, and
only the front is rated to withstand the impact
of real golf balls. The impact side will always be
folded or rolled facing in to protect the front. The
back will be facing out.
•
Place the screen at least 12-16” away from the
wall behind it.
•
Hang the screen just flat enough to remove most
folds and wrinkles, but loose enough to absorb
ball strikes.
•
Experiment with varying levels of tension to find
the right balance between the flatness of the
screen and how quickly the ball bounces back. A
more tensioned screen will have greater
bounceback but less wear, a looser screen will
have less bounce-back but will wear faster.
•
Keep the bottom of the screen as close to the
floor as possible and keep all edges protected
from direct ball strikes. Golf balls striking the
grommets directly may
damage the edging.

optimizing bounceback,

Ways To Remove Wrinkles
•
Time, screen weight and gravity will relax fold
marks after install. This could take a few days or a
few weeks depending on how long the screen
was left folded.
•
Use a clothes iron on a VERY LOW setting. Use
on the back of the screen to avoid damaging the
impact side.
Using Your New Impact Screen
•
Prevent your screen from getting dirty. Use new,
white golf balls that are free from scuffs or
permanent marker. Clean your clubs often.
•
Stand a minimum of 10-12 feet away from the
screen for safety. Customers who stand closer
could experience more ball bounce back and
increase the risk of injury.
•
Carl’s Place impact screens are heavy-duty
fabrics designed to withstand the high impact of
golf balls, however, like any material, they will
show wear. Many of our golf screens are used in
commercial facilities, struck all day long.
Depending on the frequency of use, as well as
the style and ability of the user will all contribute
to the life of a screen.
How To Clean Your Impact Screen
•
Clean a dirty impact screen with a carpet
shampooer or LA’s Totally Awesome Cleaner.
•
Do not let a wet screen air dry. Use a fan or
hairdryer on a low heat setting to avoid water
staining.
