Little Roots Music Class for Infants & Young Walkers

Thursday, July 10th, 10:00 AM–11:00 AM: Maggie Trafton Room

Children 18 months and younger, and their caregivers are welcome to join us for a special Little Roots music class.

Little Roots Infants & Young Walkers classes teach caregivers a repertoire of bounces, wiggles, lullabies, and more to

experience together. These songs and poems can be worked into daily routines and are a great way for caregivers to

deepen their bond with their children. Sharing early musical experiences will plant the seed for singing and moving to

music as a family. No registration is required.

Calling all creative kids ages 8–12! Are you ready to unleash your inner artist? Come and join our ceramic painting

library program, where imagination meets fun in a colorful way! In this hands-on event, kids will select and paint their

very own animal ceramic pieces! The possibilities are endless, whether you want to paint a magical hybrid animal,

your favorite animal friend, or a unique design. The talented Moonstone instructors will guide kids through the

painting process, sharing tips and techniques to help them bring their ideas to life. Don’t miss out on this fantastic

opportunity to paint, have fun, and express yourself! Space is limited, please register.

We have all the LEGOs and space you need, just bring your imagination. Please note, this

program is not suitable for very young children due to small pieces presenting a

choking hazard.

Diamond Art

Mr. Brandon is excited to introduce children to one of his favorite hobbies—diamond art.

This involves using an adhesive canvas that has symbols and numbers to correspond

with different colored gems. This activity is best suited for kids in grades 2–6 as it

requires a lot of focus and fine motor skills. Please note that supplies are limited, so

please register early to secure your spot.

Play with pens and paint with Melanie Therrien from Wicked Illustration Art Studio.

Children entering grades K–2 will enjoy an hour of painting and play while creating fun

illustrations and learning about the color wheel. Please dress in clothes you don’t mind

getting messy. Supplies are limited, please register.

Heat Sensitive Color Changing Slime

Come make thermochromic slime! This slime will change into different colors depending on the temperature it is

exposed to. This program is best for children ages 6–12. It is not suitable for kids who still put items in their mouth or

cannot follow directions because the slime does include a chemical, liquid starch.

Join Brandon Dyer, Children’s Librarian, as he briefly talks about Alma’s color patterns and abstract artwork. Brandon

will show an example of Alma’s artwork before children and families can replicate Alma’s art style of color and linear

Learn about Alma Woodsey Thomas, the first African American artist to have a solo art exhibit and who had her

artwork displayed three times in the White House. Brandon will read Alma’s picture book biography, Ablaze with Color:

A Story of Painter Alma Thomas by Jeanne Harvey. Afterwards, children and families can replicate Alma’s art style of

color and linear artwork. This program is best for children ages 8–12. All art supplies will be provided. Please wear

clothes that you are not afraid to get paint on!

Meet Renée Brezovsky and her therapy dog, Meadow, a blue merle Australian Shepherd who is excited to meet you.

Sprouts Story & Play Time for Babies & Toddlers

Drop by for an enjoyable and engaging lap-sit program designed for babies, toddlers, and their caregivers. Siblings

Programs are led by local volunteer, Mary Ann Cormier and library staff. Crafty Kid programs are best for school-aged

7/8 Clay Project: Let your imagination run wild while sculpting air-dry clay.

Calling all young poets and creative minds! This summer, the library invites you to unleash your imagination and

discover the world of poetry through shapes. In this exciting workshop, we’ll explore how shapes can inspire words!

From triangles to circles, we’ll discover how to express our feelings, thoughts, and stories using the unique qualities of

different shapes. Whether you’re a beginner poet or a seasoned writer, we have a safe space for everyone to learn,

create, and have fun with art and words. Poems can be on display in the library at the poet’s request. This program is

for kids ages 11–18.

Tween Dungeons & Dragons is back for another summer adventure! Beginners and experienced players are welcome!

Character sheets are provided, or if you have experience playing, build your own level 3 character to bring along your

journey. Dice and other materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own! This program is for kids

ages 10–12. All players are required to register beforehand.

Are you familiar with the phrase, “the pen is mightier than the sword”? Do you enjoy writing? Are you looking for a
