the die cutting machine from

Introduction

Congratulations on your purchase of our brand new Tangerine die cutting machine! If you are a regular user

of Tonic Studios products you will know that we pride ourselves on producing tools that give a crisp, clean

cut and provide the professional finish your craft projects deserve.

Your Tangerine has been designed with the exact same emphasis on quality & ease of use that we have

traditionally brought to our punches, dies, scissors and guillotines so we are confident you will enjoy using

your new purchase.

We’ve tried to think of everything - so your Tangerine comes with all the plates and mats you need

to both cut and emboss with your favourite Tonic Studios dies and emboss using your Tonic Studios

embossing folders.

Thank you for your continued support - we hope you enjoy

using your Tangerine as much as we enjoyed designing it.

Kind regards,

Your Tonic Studios Team.

What you get

Inside the box you will find the following...

Your very own Tangerine, the die cutting machine from Tonic Studios.

A handle and hex key (for tightening). Your Tangerine comes with the handle fully attached and you may never need

your hex key - but keep it safe just in case!

Four plates and an embossing mat.

- An orange die cutting plate

- A green die embossing plate

- A raspberry embossing folder plate

- A white top plate

- A green embossing mat

Handle

Your Tangerine comes with the handle fully attached and

secured but a hex key is supplied for use in the unlikely

event that the handle comes loose over time. Re-attaching a

loosened or detached handle couldn’t be easier:

Slot the handle onto the roller axle - see below picture.

Locate the hex keyhole on the side of the handle.

Use the hex key to tighten the handle to prevent the handle

from detaching.

Rotating Stand

We’ve added a foot to the die machine to add stability when

die cutting. To use the foot simply do the following...

Turn the Tangerine upside down.

Using the metal ring twist anticlockwise to loosen. (The

tightening nut can also be turned with a 6mm hex key

- not supplied).

Twist the foot 90º in either direction, you should feel the foot

lock into position.

Using the metal ring again, tighten the foot by turning

clockwise.

Return the foot to initial position to save space when storing

and transporting.

Tip: The base also contains two spare rubber feet just

in case you lose any.

How to use the plates and mats

Place your Tangerine on a clear flat surface allowing ample space for your layer plates to feed through uninterrupted.

It is important that the plates are used in the correct order. Using the wrong combination may result in damaging your

machine or not creating the desired effect. The plates are colour coded for ease of use.

Tip: Lightly brush your embossing mat with talcum powder before using for the

very first time. This prevents your card sticking to the mat whilst embossing.

Tip: Make sure the white top plate is always at the top, this way you can place

your die where you need on the paper.

Tip: Some intricate dies may not cut

in one pass. If necessary rotate your

die and card 90° and cut again.

Additionally, embossing your die cut

shapes can aid stubborn cuts.

Note: Embossing folders differ in

design complexity and plate thickness.

Sometimes experimentation is required

but you should never force a stiff plate

combination through your Tangerine!

If your embossing folder combination

is breaking your card consider using

the green plate to replace the white top

plate. If the embossed result is weak

consider using the green plate and mat

to replace the white top plate.

After care

Cautions

Please be aware of the following hazards before using the machine.

Your Tangerine is heavy. Use only on a sturdy, flat surface.

Store out of the reach of children. The Tangerine is not a toy.

The Tangerine is designed for home and recreational use.

Make sure the plates are stacked correctly, not doing so may result in damaging

your machine.

If you are having difficulties running your plates through the machine, reverse the handle to remove

the plates and double check your plate combination. Never force your plates through your Tangerine.

Your Tangerine may on occasion leak small amounts of bearing oil onto your plates – this is normal. Immediately

clean the affected plate and the Tangerine roller cavity with a dry cloth to protect your card from staining.

To ensure the Tangerine continues to work optimally, please make sure you

follow the correct after care.

Store the Tangerine in a safe place (away from children).

Clean the casing of the machine with a damp cloth and do not use

cleaning products.

To prolong the life of the plates, use both sides and remove any debris

after cutting.

If the handle begins to squeak, apply a drop of household lubricant to the

metal bearings on the outside of the handle.
