he design brief for the new Telstra
Shop at The Glen Shopping Centre
was to create a new Telstra Future
Retail Environment (FRE) which brings
the possibilities of the network and
technologies to life.
To allow Telstra to meet their customers’
needs in a consultative, intuitive, human
environment, the space has been broken
up into four unique zones that takes the
customer on a journey through the store
and its key areas and spaces.
The shop window is the customers’ first
interface to the ways that technology
can enhance their lives. Eye-catching
displays, interactive experiences, and
go-to-market led visual merchandising
attract and inspire customers.
At the very front of the store, The Gallery
showcases a selection of Telstra’s latest
products. Drawing inspiration from pop-
up spaces and retail trends, it invites
customers and passers-by to come in,
touch and feel the product, and funnels
them through to the concierge in The
Lounge.
The Lounge is our answer to the
frustration of waiting rooms. It’s here
that the hospitality comes to the fore.
Customers pick up and play with the
most entertaining products, while
relaxing in a comfortable environment.
The Workshop marks the beginning
of the one-on-one time with the
consultants, who offer new ideas and
personalised solutions. And because
they have all the tools, products and
information they need at their fingertips,
they can explain anything and everything
to their customer.
The accessible, warm & light store
aesthetic works with these zones to
alleviate the established customer pain
points of previous Telstra stores.
This store came in on budget, due
to the extensive cost-saving reviews
and re-designs in ACRD’s Lab Store
environment prior to sign off from the
client.

INTERIOR FITOUT AWARDS 2018-2019
antryman is an existing bulk food
store located in Rockingham that
specialises in the sale of loose form
pantry ingredients.
The design concept was to create an
engaging space that showcased a vast
range of pantry products in a one-stop-
shop for every bulk food enthusiast.
The shopfront is eye-catching and
engaging with black metal framework,
metal mesh and plywood planks
wrapping around the sides and top. The
central framework houses shelves that
display pre-packed products that one
would likely find in a pantry. The left-
hand side features a column of wooden
rolling pins, a fun way to draw the
attention of baking enthusiasts, and on
the right are staggered plywood boxes
adding more fun elements to the design.
A mobile table is centrally placed at the
shopfront for food demos and displays
providing a platform for staff to engage
customers. Black and white pattern
floor tiles akin to that of a residential
kitchen-pantry adorn the shopfront entry
zone making the shop look even more
inviting.
Throughout the store is a systematic
arrangement of the various product
offers in transparent food containers
and dispensers on custom built joinery.
Gravity feed dispensers line the upper
portion of each bay, clear containers
with scoops fill the middle part, and
tall buckets of flour, grains and seeds
line the bottom of the centre bays.
A weighing station with packaging
is centrally located at each side wall.
Above the central bays are category
signs hanging from wires attached to
the framed wire mesh feature above the
aisles. These were all designed to make
the shopping experience easy and fun.
The high upper side walls are lined
with plywood planks with graphics that
list different feature products and their
corresponding descriptions adding
visual interest to the store as well as
providing useful information about the
products.
Two sales counters are located at the
rear of the store with a clear view from
the aisles encouraging customers to
browse through the shop. Above them
is a black framed wire mesh panel with
a large 3d letters sign that encourages
customers to “Buy In Bulk & Save”, a
slogan for the astute shopper.
Lighting was simple but efficient,
highlighting the products and making
them the hero.
The design slightly exceeded the
budget due to the sheer amount of the
food dispensers and joinery, but was well
accepted and the budget was adjusted.

orking closely with the client,
the brief was to create a
modern and contemporary
space with references to traditional
Japanese design. Catering for those
on-the-go or looking to dine in, seating
played a big part in spatial planning and
design.
A modern approach to Japanese dining,
Ichiban Sushi is flooded in shades
of blue with velvet accents, terrazzo
benchtops & sprayed out ceilings.
Further accentuated with powder blue
tile grout, reed glass dividers and
delicate pendant lighting. The concept,
colours and details continue through
the branding, which is integrated into
the design of the cafe to contribute
to the overall feel of the space. This
is showcased through custom wall
graphics, menu design and internal &
external signage. The space challenges
design norms and breaks away from the
mould of a traditional sushi train.
A destination dining experience rather
than simply a venue within a shopping
centre.
Ichiban Sushi is a prime example of
excellent interior design, as we worked
with the site to create unique dining
experiences that not only alluded to
traditional Japanese dining but also to
the modern diner.
Working with the client to develop the
brand and then the interior concept, we
provided a cohesive and well thought
out solution.
The space adheres to all key elements
for successful hospitality design. The
interior concept is a direct continuation
of the Ichiban brand providing a unique
experience that evokes an emotional
response the moment a customer steps
into the space.

aster Builders Queensland
existed in a twenty-something
year old building with teams
segmented throughout the building
and a shortage of members space. The
refurbishment of the Master Builders
Queensland offices was a big step for
the board, and a huge commitment to
change. From the start, we were aware
of the association’s heritage, and its
importance to the building community
and we addressed the delicate history
capturing this within a new fitout that
can evolve over the next twenty years.
Ellivo’s exploration of Master Builders
and audits of artefacts on site, photos of
past presidents and significant artworks
led them to know early on that history
is very important to MBQ and all of its
members – past and current. The design
was therefore going to pay homage to
the history and craftsmanship and how
these dovetail into today.
Ellivo’s vision would see them create a
varying and honest palette, often using
quite raw materials such as timber,
steel, bronze, copper & gold. Each has
a subtle difference, just like the varying
trades of MBQ, and weave a subtle story
as you journey through the spaces.
The member spaces are welcoming
to tradespeople and board members
alike and have a comfort to the spaces
that was important to the MBQ team.
Functionality of these spaces for
training, private board meetings, events
and workspaces was also top of the list.
There are a series of training spaces
lined in robust finishes, contrasted with
acoustic panelled walls to deliver on
training functionality. The whole of the
Members level also opens up to allow
for Members events throughout the year
and training on every other day.
The staff enter via the lower ground
into their own cafe and end-of-trip
facilities. They have a direct connection
to the working floors via lift. Teams are
identifiable through the subtle variations
in the material palette and visually
connected through new openings in an
old facade. The spaces are filled with
greenery, timber screening and visual
dividers to soften the workspace and
provide levels of privacy to suit the
needs of the staff. The staff also have
access to sit to stand desks and varying
meeting rooms to support their work
styles.
Master Builders Queensland have
thoroughly enjoyed the transformation
of their Queensland home and the
benefits this has delivered to Members,
Staff and Board members since its
completion. They are very proud of their
home and how this can support their
changing needs over the coming years.

s the name suggests, Diverse
Dental offers a range of
treatments. Their clientele
consists predominantly of the youth
market, which influenced the design
direction to create an inviting, modern
and professional space.
The design brief also included the need
for an area especially for kids that was
spacious and well equipped with toys
and activities, to encourage relaxation
before their appointment.
The client’s brief was met through
the principals of design in all aspects.
The colour palette creates a fresh and
modern atmosphere throughout. The
reception and waiting areas feature
softer finishes to foster a warm,
welcoming environment and smoothly
transition into the hard finishes required
for the surgeries through flooring
elements.
Custom visual signage and graphics
are used throughout the clinic for room
labelling and unique branding quotes
that enhance easy way-finding and
provide a little fun.
Altogether, the materials and finishes
along with specific design details and
layout work seamlessly together to
provide a modern and professional
experience for both staff and patients.
Initial budgeting was re-negotiated
during the design stage as the client’s
focus was to ensure the final outcome
met their strict clinical requirements and
desired aesthetic.
Ultimately, the client was thrilled with the
concept design and proposed costings
and no variations were required during
the construction stage.
