Dear Athletes, Coaches, Families, and Guests,

On behalf of the Ottawa Police Service, it is my great pleasure to

welcome you all to the 2025 Provincial School Championships here

in our nation’s capital.

We are proud to host this exciting event and to support the

remarkable young athletes who have trained, competed, and

persevered to earn their place at this level. These championships

are a celebration of dedication, teamwork, and the incredible spirit

of youth sport across Ontario.

As police officers, we understand the value of discipline, leadership, and community —

values that are at the heart of this competition. It is an honour for us to partner with

schools, families, and community leaders in creating opportunities like this that bring

people together and help our young people thrive.

We also want to extend a warm welcome to all visitors joining us from across the province.

Whether you’re cheering from the sidelines, supporting a team, or helping to organize the

event, thank you for being part of something that strengthens not just our youth, but our

communities.

Ottawa is a beautiful and diverse city with a proud tradition of sports and civic engagement.

We encourage you to enjoy your stay, explore all that our city has to offer, and most of all—

have fun!

high-end shopping, you can be sure that there is plenty for everyone to see and do.

ABOUT SCHOOL CHAMPS

These Championships will feature 5 sports: basketball, bocce, floorball, soccer and track & field.

All five sports will offer two types of team divisions;

a Traditional division, where all athletes on the team have an intellectual disability,

and a Unified division, where athletes with and without an intellectual disability will have the

opportunity to compete on the same team.

Unified sport provides a unique opportunity for students with an intellectual disability to

compete alongside their mainstream peers. All athletes are of similar ability level in their sport

and therefore are able to contribute equally as a team. All sports will be broken down into

multiple ability divisions, where athletes will have the opportunity to compete against those of

similar ability levels, ensuring fair and safe competition for all.

The City of Ottawa and the Ottawa Police Service are proud
