Dear GCIS Kindergarten Family,
As the vibrant months of September and October unfold, we celebrate
the joyful spirit of learning and togetherness that defines our
kindergarten community. It is my pleasure to introduce this edition of
our newsletter, showcasing the energy and enthusiasm of our young
learners as they embark on exciting adventures each day.
This term, we warmly welcomed Ms. Sudha Mahadevan as our Early
Years Mentor. With her rich experience and profound passion for early
childhood education, she is already inspiring growth and innovation in
our learning environment.
Our kindergarteners have been busy exploring, celebrating, and
connecting with the world around them. From dressing up as
community helpers to visiting the fire station and post office, our little
ones have embraced every opportunity to learn through experience.
Fitness Fun Squad sessions have brought joy to staying active, while
Grandparents’ Day filled our hearts with love and gratitude.
At GCIS, we are committed to nurturing holistic development, and our
cultural celebrations have enriched the children’s understanding of
diverse traditions and values. These moments of merriment and
learning lay the foundation for future success while creating cherished
memories for all.
Thank you for your unwavering support in making these experiences
possible. Together, we continue to build a nurturing and vibrant

We are thrilled to introduce Sudha Mahadevan as our new Early Years
Mentor! With over 40 years of experience in early childhood
education, Sudha brings a wealth of expertise and a deep passion for
nurturing young minds. Her incredible journey spans teaching and
consulting in prestigious international schools in India and abroad. Let’s
hear directly from her as she shares her inspiring story and vision for
the future.
“Hello! I am Sudha Mahadevan, and I’m truly excited to join you as an Early
Years Mentor. I appreciate this opportunity to introduce myself and share a
bit about my journey, aspirations, and interests.
I come from God’s Own Country, Kerala, and was raised in Mumbai, a city
full of opportunities. My journey then took me to Doha, Qatar, where I
spent over 25 years immersed in the dynamic culture of the Middle East,
before returning to settle in Bangalore, the bustling IT hub of India.
With over 40 years of experience as a passionate early years educator and
consultant, I’ve had the privilege of teaching in prestigious international
schools both in India and abroad. Being with young children has always
kept my spirit youthful, and I find deep satisfaction in guiding their growth
and development. I firmly believe that children are not things to be
moulded, but individuals to be unfolded.
Looking ahead, my goal is to introduce positive changes in the early years’
learning environment, implementing best practices to create a joyful space
for all. I believe that the journey is just as important as the destination, and
I’m eager to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. I look
forward to learning from each of you, sharing ideas, and collaborating on
exciting projects.
I am here with an open mind and a strong desire to contribute in the best
possible way to our school community. Thank you!”

GCIS Kindergarten recently hosted a vibrant Community
Helpers Gallery Walk to help children recognise and
appreciate the vital roles of everyday heroes like doctors,
police officers, and firefighters. Through colourful displays
and engaging discussions with peers and teachers, our
young learners connected these roles to their own
experiences, enhancing their understanding of the
community around them.
Adding to the excitement, our dedicated teachers dressed
up as community helpers, moving from classroom to
classroom to share insights about their roles and the
importance of their work. This interactive engagement
brought these concepts to life, making the learning
experience even more relatable and fun!
The day concluded with an exciting Community Helper
Role Play, where students enthusiastically acted out the
responsibilities of these heroes. This hands-on activity
fostered creativity and dialogue, deepening their
appreciation for the contributions of community helpers.
The combined experience of the gallery walk and role play
helped our students develop essential skills while
celebrating the invaluable work of those who support our
communities every day.

Our GCIS kindergarteners recently embarked on
an exciting adventure to the Fire Station and Post
Office, where they experienced real-world
demonstrations and learned about essential
community services.
At the fire station, the children were captivated by
a live demonstration from firefighters, watching in
awe as they showcased their bravery and skill
with hoses and fire trucks. At the post office, they
discovered how mail is sorted and sent out,
gaining a newfound appreciation for the
hardworking postal workers who keep our
communication flowing.
These hands-on experiences connected the
children to the world beyond their classroom,
offering a fun and interactive way to learn about
the vital roles these community helpers play in our
daily lives. It was a day of exploration, curiosity,
and valuable learning for our young voyagers!
