As we reflect on the past two months, it’s inspiring to see how our students and educators have brought the GCIS
ethos to life, blending academic rigour with creative exploration and cultural appreciation. This term’s activities, from
innovative classroom engagements to vibrant celebrations of tradition, have provided a rich learning experience for all.
Our focus on holistic education came alive through various interactive sessions—whether in the mathematical insights
shared with Grade 9, the physics experiments conducted at CMR University, or the art of storytelling embraced by our
younger learners. Through these activities, students have engaged deeply with their studies, gaining knowledge and
valuable life skills along the way.
At GCIS, we also recognise and celebrate the exceptional achievements of our students, whether in academics, arts, or
sports. This term, we’ve seen them shine at events like the Junior GMUN and the INSPIRE Awards, demonstrating
their skills in diplomacy, science, and innovation. These accomplishments are a testament to their hard work and the
guidance of our dedicated teachers who foster an environment of excellence and support.
The spirit of togetherness at GCIS was evident in our festive celebrations of Janmashtami, Onam, Ganesh Chaturthi,
and Dussehra. These moments of shared joy allowed our community to connect with cultural heritage while
strengthening bonds of respect and understanding.
This term also marked our dedication to supporting students’ emotional and social well-being, highlighted by initiatives
like the mental health skit by our Theatre Club and our teachers’ heartfelt celebrations on Teacher’s Day.
Looking forward, we are excited to continue fostering an environment that values both individual and collective
growth. Thank you to our entire GCIS family for their enthusiasm and commitment. Together, we are shaping an
inclusive, vibrant, and empowering learning journey.

The world has been blessed with the greatest of leaders over the centuries—leaders who changed the course of
events, shaped nations, carved destinies, and rewrote history. These were individuals who influenced the world in
ways that still fuel debates and discussions. Their impact lived on, long after they were gone, resonating through the
years. Leadership once symbolised greatness, whether in political, social, or religious realms.
Today, however, the concept of leadership holds a different perspective. The larger-than-life persona once associated
with a leader is no longer a primary requisite. The ability to lead, yes. Leading a pack, no. What is required now is the
willingness to lead by example, to act as a role model, and to set a benchmark of conduct that inspires others to follow.
It requires the courage to take responsibility not only for oneself but also for the group one represents. A leader does
not necessarily need to be a designated Minister, Principal, or CEO to display these qualities.
We are all leaders in some aspect of our lives, where we must take responsibility, engage in decision-making, and
initiate action. Leadership revolves around managing these facets of our personal or professional lives.
A successful leader creates more leaders, seeks to empower others, and knows how to delegate, train, and facilitate.
We are called upon to demonstrate these leadership qualities as parents, teachers, and students, often in more ways
than we may realise.
Leadership is not a badge of honour; it is about being honourable. It is not a matter of pride; it is about humility. It is
not about individual power; it is about empowerment. Ultimately, leadership is about character, personality, and traits
that elevate us to a higher order of being.
Happy leading until we meet again!

On 21st September 2024, CBSE Resource Persons, Ms. Geetika Kharola
and Mr. Savari James S, led an engaging and informative session for GCIS
CBSE teachers on the topic of Active Learning.
This interactive session introduced a wide array of teaching strategies that
actively engage students, promoting more dynamic and participatory
classrooms.
Our teachers gained valuable insights into methods that will make their
classrooms more interactive and conducive to enhanced student
participation, fostering a more hands-on learning environment at GCIS.

“The more that you read, the more things
you will know. The more you learn, the more
places you’ll go.” – Dr. Seuss.
CBSE Grade 6 students at GCIS had a
remarkable opportunity to meet the talented
author, Mr. Pradeep Chakravarthy, during a
captivating book reading session of “History
of South India for Children.”
The event not only highlighted the power of
reading in nurturing young minds but also
imparted valuable life lessons. Students were
thrilled to explore the rich history of South
India through the author’s unique
perspective, gaining a deeper understanding
of the world around them.
This interactive session sparked curiosity and
inspired our students to dive further into the
world of books.

“Mathematics may not teach us to add love or subtract hate, but it gives us hope that every problem has a solution.”
This spirit of problem-solving was brought to life in an engaging Math session for CBSE Grade 9 students, led by the
distinguished Mathematician, educator, and scholar, Mr. Markandananda.
During the session, he not only shared techniques to simplify complex Math concepts but also imparted moral wisdom
inspired by Swami Vivekananda, Mother Teresa, and A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. The students left the session feeling inspired
and excited to apply both the mathematical and life lessons they learned.

“Through the art of storytelling, we weave dreams, give life to the impossible, and make the invisible visible.”
Our Grade 3 students recently participated in an imaginative storytelling session that sparked creativity and enhanced
verbal skills. This engaging activity allowed each child to craft their own unique narrative, strengthening their language
abilities, vocabulary, and public speaking confidence.
The classroom was abuzz with excitement as tales of brave knights, mysterious lands, and friendly unicorns filled the
air, capturing the imagination of everyone present.
By the end of the session, it was clear that this experience had planted seeds of confidence and curiosity, leaving our
young storytellers eager to explore the limitless realms of their imagination. We look forward to more storytelling
adventures with these creative minds!

Our fifth-grade students recently brought Rabindranath Tagore’s “Invention of Shoes” to life through an exciting comic
strip creation activity. This interactive project encouraged students to blend storytelling with visual art, enhancing their
visual-spatial intelligence.
As they crafted dialogues and created artwork, the students showcased their creativity and deepened their
understanding of the story’s themes.
Through this hands-on experience, they practiced essential skills such as sequencing, character development, and
artistic expression, making literature an immersive, visual experience.
It was inspiring to see our young learners express complex ideas with images and dialogue, adding a unique
perspective to their literary journey.

Mathematics plays a vital role in our everyday lives, making it essential to build a solid understanding of concepts from
an early age. At GCIS, we employ various teaching methods like hands-on activities,
Math lab sessions, art-integrated learning, and real-life problem solving to foster a deeper understanding and love for
math. Our approach includes strategies such as Concrete Understanding, Active Engagement, Peer Collaboration,
Critical Thinking, Art-Integrated Learning, and Real-World Connections.
Recently, Grade 2 students learned multiplication and Grade 1 students explored subtraction through engaging
activities, critical thinking exercises, and art-based methods. These dynamic sessions encouraged our young learners
to apply mathematical concepts creatively, building a strong foundation for future learning.
