AFTER SCHOOL

ACTIVITIES

AT NAIS PUDONG

Dear Parents and Students,

We are excited to launch a new season of our After School Activities (ASA)

programme at Nord Anglia International School Shanghai, Pudong.

Our ASAs are a vibrant and valued part of school life, offering students the chance

to explore new interests, develop key skills, and connect with others outside of

the classroom. With a wide range of options available—from golf, LAMDA and

debate to languages, chess, sports and service opportunities—there is something

to inspire every student.

Each activity supports the development of one or more of our school’s core

values, grouped under the three “C”s:

Creative – for performers, artists, inventors, and anyone eager to try

something new.

Confident – for those who love to move, compete, speak up, or lead others

through challenge and teamwork.

Considerate – for students drawn to mentoring, volunteering, and making a

difference in their community.

We encourage all students to take part in at least two activities each season.

Younger students benefit from exploring a variety of interests, while older

students can begin to focus on building strengths that align with their goals and

passions. For those preparing for university, our ASA programme provides

valuable experiences that support well-rounded, future-ready applications.

This is your opportunity to discover what excites you, to grow, and to thrive. We

can’t wait to see where your ASA journey takes you.

With warm regards,

Diane Vaughan

PRINCIPAL

Participating in our school's after school activities is an excellent way to

enrich students’ learning experiences and broaden their horizons. These

programs offer a diverse range of opportunities, allowing them to explore

new interests and discover hidden talents. Through interactive

workshops, fun-filled events, and engaging projects, they will develop

essential skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, and time

management. We want our students to embrace the chance to grow

beyond the confines of the regular curriculum and unlock their full

potential in an exciting and supportive environment.

THE PURPOSE

OF ASAs

HOLISTIC

ACADEMIC

For students with aspirations of attending top-tier universities, our after school

activities play a pivotal role in enhancing college applications. Admissions officers

value well-rounded individuals who exhibit a passion for learning and active

involvement in extracurricular pursuits. By participating in diverse activities, students

demonstrate their commitment to personal growth and showcase their ability to

balance academics with real-world experiences. Involvement in these programmes

can set students apart from other applicants, bolstering their chances of securing

admission to their dream college or university.

SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

WELLBEING

At our school, we prioritise students’ holistic development and well-being. After

school activities offer a refreshing break from the rigours of academic life, providing

an outlet to unwind, de-stress, and recharge. Whether they are participating in

artistic endeavours or physical activities, students will discover the therapeutic

benefits of pursuing hobbies and interests outside of the classroom. Engaging in

these activities nurtures mental and emotional health, instilling a sense of balance

and happiness that extends into all aspects of their lives.

Beyond academic achievements, our after school

activities foster strong interpersonal skills and

create lasting friendships. Through collaborative

projects, team sports, and community outreach

initiatives, students will learn to communicate

effectively, empathise with others, and build a

network of supportive peers. These experiences

provide a safe and inclusive space to interact with

individuals from diverse backgrounds, promoting

cultural understanding and social cohesion.

Engaging in such activities not only enhances social

adaptability but also contributes to a positive and

inclusive school community.

SKILLS

We believe after school activities are a vital part of a student's

life in school. Activities let students explore their interests and

their passions. Developing a love for any interest whether acting

or swimming or playing in a band is a crucial part of developing

into a creative, confident and considerate adult.
