Vocational

 Our crew enjoyed a break from the monotony, and attended an hour of

recreational basketball on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the spring. They

utilized the gymnasium at the Washington Park District to brush up on their

3-point shots!

 Our crew recently participated in an interactive Epilepsy Awareness program

on site. It was presented by Blue Tower Solutions. It was both informative,

and entertaining.

 If your group would like to tour our Community Day Services facility, call

Roger; 309-467-3015 (Ext 109) or email rcrow@addwc.org

 Wish list for the vocational program – If you happen to have any 10-gallon

round plastic totes with rope handles sitting around, please consider

donating them to our vocational program. We find them to be ideal for sorting

our material. Ours take a lot of abuse and we are constantly replacing them.

Life Skills

We have been enjoying the sunny

days outside planting our garden. We

also have been taking trips to Five

Points in Washington for our exercise

program.

Life Skills also had a Cinco de Mayo party where they had a piñata, virgin

margaritas and a great time!!

Our House Managers

Residential

A big THANKS to Lexi, Jake, and Meagan

for leading our 3 houses.

Some of our ladies had a night out

and went to the Cinderella Ballet at

the Peoria civic Center

Our 3 houses got together to have a summer

kickoff party. We grilled out and had

deserts. Clients invited their families, got to

play games and had a blast!

EVENTS

SAVE THE DATE! We are switching gears to prepare for our 9th Annual Going Green Golf

Outing to be held on Wednesday, September 27th. We are excited to announce that it will

be held at Pine Lakes Golf Club in Washington this year! We will have some new challenges

with opportunities to win cash prizes and more! As always; beer, soda, water, and Gatorade

is free during play! Watch our social media for information and updates. If you would like

information about entering a team, or becoming a sponsor, contact Roger; 309-467-3015

(Ext 109) or email rcrow@addwc.org

As my first year of President/CEO winds down, I would like to personally thank the Leadership

Team at ADDWC for embracing the vision for our programs to evolve and take chances. We

now look forward to the beginning of our new fiscal year starting July 1st.

ADDWC is investing its resources into our staff and programming for clients. Plans are in place

for increased community access as well as work opportunities in our Life Skills program. I am

excited to announce that ADDWC is joining the Institute on Public Policy for People with

Disabilities. The Institute will provide us with firsthand knowledge of what is happening at the

state and federal level, as well connect ADDWC with other social service agencies throughout

the State of Illinois.

ADDWC is thankful for the efforts that the State of Illinois, along with the Department of Human

Services, has done to increase our funding rates and pay for all employees. Our staff will see

the largest increase to date in wages of $2.50/hr. effective January 2024. As this is great news,

those in the social service field know that there is lots of work to be done. Increasing wages

and recruiting staff is only one problem facing our programs. There continues to be a lack of

funding available to those individuals that have a desire to transition or attend a Community Day

Service program or reside in a Community Integrated Living Arrangement. This would include

individuals currently graduating from school, living at home with family or in a state operated

facility.

I have confidence that in the coming year, ADDWC will evolve and strengthen its current

programs along with researching what areas of service needs addressing in Woodford County.

Being active in the social service community is imperative for us to keep up to date with

changes and how we strategically plan for implementation. There will continue to be hills and

valleys as we move forward, but with the support of our families and community, ADDWC will

continue to improve the lives of people with intellectual disabilities in Woodford County.
